Why I Finally Decided to Start the Podcast I’ve Been Thinking About for Years

For a long time, the idea of starting a podcast lived quietly in the back of my mind. It would pop up when I was driving, when I was listening to other shows, when I’d finish a conversation that felt too meaningful to just disappear into the air. But every time I thought about actually doing it, I’d hit the same wall: What would it even be about?

As a publisher, I live in stories every day. I work with authors who share their journeys of overcoming trauma, rebuilding after heartbreak, navigating business, healing from abuse, redefining relationships, and rewriting their lives. Their courage has always inspired me, but it also made me feel like I needed to “pick a lane” if I was going to step up to the microphone myself. And out of all of the topics I could pick from, it felt impossible to choose just one.

The Fear of Being “Just Another Voice”

If I’m being honest, part of the hesitation wasn’t just about clarity. It was the quiet fear that maybe I’d just be another voice in an already crowded space. There are so many incredible podcasts about women’s empowerment, life reinvention, personal development, and healing journeys. I wondered if I had anything unique enough to add. Would anyone care what I had to say? Would it stand out?

But somewhere along the way, something shifted. I realized this wasn’t about carving out a perfectly differentiated brand angle. It was about alignment. About creating a space that felt true to my own journey and trusting that the right people would find it because they’re on a similar path.

Finding the Thread That Ties It All Together

What finally clicked for me was recognizing the common thread in everything that lights me up: real conversations about becoming.

Conversations about

  • building businesses that reflect who we are

  • navigating friendships and marriage as we grow

  • learning from the hard chapters

  • reclaiming our voice after pain

  • and redefining what “midlife” actually means

Because if I’m honest, the traditional narrative around midlife for women has never resonated with me. The idea that our most vibrant years are behind us? That we should settle into smaller versions of ourselves? That growth slows down?

No thanks.

I feel the opposite. I feel like this season is an awakening, a time to break out, evolve, and step fully into the best version of myself. My best years are not behind me. They’re happening now. And I know I’m not alone in that feeling.

What I’ve Learned From the Authors I Work With

One of the greatest gifts of my work is witnessing how powerful it is when someone decides to tell the truth about their life. I’ve seen firsthand how storytelling creates healing, connection, and community.

When people share what they’ve been through, the messy, the painful, the triumphant, it doesn’t just help them. It gives others permission to feel seen. To feel less alone. To imagine new possibilities for their own lives. One great example, is an author that has become a friend, Carmen Calhoun, who has used her personal life story to write an incredible book, create content where she shares her story, and an entire business to help others through her Breathwork.

That’s ultimately what this podcast is about. Not perfection. Not having all the answers. But creating a space where conversations about growth, resilience, identity, relationships, and reinvention can exist side by side, enjoying the journey as we walk it out.

Your Story Matters (More Than You Think)

At the heart of my business is a belief I come back to again and again: your story matters.

It matters because stories are how we recognize ourselves in each other.
It matters because what you’ve lived through could be the exact encouragement someone else needs.
It matters because documenting our experiences, whether through books, conversations, or podcasts, helps us build a world where people feel seen, valued, and understood.

This podcast is simply another extension of that mission. Another way to bring voices together. Another way to remind us that we’re not walking this path alone.
